In person from MedtecLIVE

It’s no secret that we like going to trade fairs. We always come away from IDS and MEDICA with a sense of amazement that stays with us long after the visit. At the same time, we are always on the look-out for exciting new trade fairs that we were previously unaware of.

MedtecLIVE with T4M is practically on our doorstep here in Ulm. It has been created from the merger of two trade fairs: MedtecLIVE and Technology for Medical Devices. It will now be held alternately in Stuttgart and Nuremberg every year. Stuttgart is the first to play host.

In deciding to join forces, the organizers are responding to the industry’s desire for a single trade fair to provide a central one-stop event for southern Germany. They bring together the regional giants of the medical technology industry to discuss the topics that are currently on their minds.

MedtecLIVE offers a platform for this

There are a wide variety of manufacturers, suppliers, and other service providers in the medical technology industry who will be there as exhibitors, and the program also promises lectures, networking, guided tours, as well as practical insights from a model production line that will be set up at the fair.

Production line

Visitors will be able to marvel at every step in the production process, from processing of the raw materials to packaging of the final product. On the production line, they will be able to see with their own eyes how different manufacturers play a part in the production process. Perhaps it will inspire visitors to review their own production methods to make them as efficient and time-saving as possible. At least this is the hope of the trade fair organizer.

Lectures that will be recorded for later posting on the online platform

If you have seen enough of the booths for a while, you might strike lucky in the supporting program. Lectures will be held from morning to evening on the three days of the fair.

From digitization to sustainability, the lectures will cover all future fields of medical technology. Panel discussion and comprehensive lectures will alternate with short product presentations and keynote talks by exhibitors. An excerpt from the program:

  • Start-ups for better, digital care in hospitals – how can this succeed? May 3, 10:15 a.m., Messeforum
  • Lack of resources, flood of packaging & human rights – how can the medtech industry become a pioneer in sustainability? May 3, 1:00 p.m., Kongress West
  • One year MDR: How is the implementation of the European Medical Devices Regulation? May 4, 1:45 p.m., Messeforum
  • Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA): Game changer or showstopper for innovative medical devices? May 5, 10:15 a.m., Messeforum

If you have missed a lecture, you can watch a recording of it afterwards. The companion online platform for the trade fair will offer access to videos of all lectures until the end of the year.

Guided tours

If you are interested in certain topics and want to get a targeted overview of them, you may only have to wait for the right moment. One-off guided tours will lead past booths that are thematically related to each other.

For example, these themed groupings include "Medical technology from Baden-Württemberg", "Medical technology from Bavaria", and "Green Medtech: sustainable solutions for medical technology".

Any visitor with a ticket can sign up for the tours from April 18 onwards.

Networking

Networking via the website or app now represents a standard part of the trade fair experience. MedtecLIVE with T4M promises supplementary and custom-fit virtual matchmaking opportunities. During the fair, this online component is designed to facilitate exchange between exhibitors and attendees. According to the website, chat and video call features are integrated into the platform. But for those attending in person, a personal meeting will still be the first choice for many.

What we are hoping for from MedtecLIVE with T4M

We are really looking forward to being able to tour the production line. And that is not only because it will make for some great photo opportunities to post online. Rather, it is because we read and translate a lot about medical devices in our everyday work, but we rarely have the opportunity to see these products in action. We find the idea of a special area with a production line on which a complete product will be created live all the more promising.

But we are looking forward even more to having real conversations with both old and new faces. We would be happy to make advance appointments to see you. It doesn’t matter whether you already have a specific agenda and a meeting time in mind or whether a question only occurs to you at the trade fair, our Key Account Manager Anastasia Simon will be there on May 3 and 4 and will be only too pleased to make time for you. We look forward to contributing to your success with our expertise.

Hygiene and the coronavirus

Finally, we would like to say a few words about the trade fair’s hygiene plan. After two years of the pandemic, the coronavirus is still a constant concern for us all. Messe Stuttgart is addressing this with a hygiene plan based on the requirements of the State of Baden-Württemberg. A brief overview:

  • Wearing a mask is currently only a recommendation and is no longer mandatory.
  • The organizer has taken measures to ensure that attendees can socially distance 1.5 meters from each other everywhere. Every attendee should do their best to maintain social distancing.
  • Preferably come early. There is a maximum number of permitted visitors on the exhibition site. If there are too many visitors, you may have to stand in line.
  • The organizer has taken the trouble to set up outdoor areas in the fresh air.
  • The entire hall is continuously ventilated.
  • The usual hygiene rules and standard cough and sneeze etiquette (into the crook of the arm) apply.

The coronavirus regulations of the federal state may change at short notice, and the organizer will respond to them in a timely manner if this happens. More information on the hygiene plan of Messe Stuttgart can be found at Trade fair website.

See you at the trade fair and afterwards

We would like to meet you at the fair. It doesn’t matter whether we have already known each other for a long time or you have just heard about us. Anastasia Simon will also make time to have off-the-cuff, informal conversations.

After the fair, we will summarize our experience in a post for this blog.
