Technical advice

for optimized specialized translations

mt-g has its own centralized interface for technical solutions. The experts on our translation localization engineering team are responsible for reviewing and optimizing your work processes and your documents along with performing other tasks.

Regardless of whether you ...

  • need a medical translation or
  • a terminological solution, and/or
  • would like the reviewers on the project to hail from the relevant target language countries,

… our technical experts will develop the best possible technical basis for your project: in other words, a tailor-made workflow.

The advantages of standardized workflows:

  • Avoidance of the risks of manual processing
  • Reduction of time and costs
  • Optimal integration of your relevant departments into the process

Our technical solutions are, of course, flexible. Have your requirements changed? We will adapt our workflows to suit your new requirements.

Terminology management

to ensure the worldwide recognition of your brand message

We get your company-specific vocabulary into shape. All of the relevant terms are translated from the source language to the required foreign language and then reliably entered into a database. That way all of our professional medical translators will be able to easily access the terminology of your corporate language. This provides you with a reliable way of ensuring the consistency of your medical translations while saving time and money at the same time.

Do you need more than just terminology maintenance? No problem: we can work with you to develop a corporate language for your company.

The mt-g terminology package includes...

  • Detailed advice about how to determine the optimal workflow,
  • Defining style and notation guidelines by creating a style guide, and
  • Generating and maintaining your terminology database.

File preparation and follow-up

for your professional translation needs

Editable vs. non-editable file formats

Medical translations form the basis of our language services. We can translate your documents from all common file formats. When it comes to specialized translation, we distinguish between editable and non-editable formats.

  • Texts from editable formats, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign, can be translated quickly and easily without needing to be converted and usually with minimal preparation.
  • These types of texts usually work well with so-called CAT tools, translation memory systems, and terminology databases. This saves you time and money, since we do not have to translate repetitions over and over again.
  • The number of words in the text can be determined precisely, allowing us to provide you with an exact price quote.
  • The formatting of your document usually does not have to be changed. We can deliver your specialized translation with the original layout and in the original file format.
  • File formats such as PDFs must first be converted into an editable format before we can perform your medical translation.
  • The formatting will be mostly lost as a result, and it will have to be manually restored later.
  • CAT tools can only be used to a limited extent to translate these files, which means that prices are calculated based on an inexact number of words without prior preparation to convert the file to an editable format.
  • Translation memories and terminology lists cannot be used.
  • Specialized translations from non-editable files will usually require increased time and money.

Interfaces and CMS

Language services with the system

It is very easy for us to provide a professional translation of content that is saved in your content management system. Many CMS platforms provide a way of exporting your content into a format that can be easily translated in a CAT tool. By performing a series of test exports and imports, we work with you to ensure that the content translated by our specialist medical translators can be reimported back into your CMS without a hitch. Talk to us, and we will also find a solution for your CMS.

Common CMS formats include, for example, XML, YAML, PO, Xliff, and CSV. On request and by arrangement, we can also convert other files into translatable formats for you.

Machine translation
& post-editing

A language service that has received a lot of attention.

But is it a true opportunity for savings or a quality-deficient approach to translation? Companies in the medical field are increasingly interested in machine translation and post-editing.

At the same time, there are unanswered questions about machine translation.

Does this type of professional translation mean that you have to compromise on quality, and is it really cheaper than conventional translation?

CAT tools

for quality assurance and cost reduction

State of the art: We use the latest versions of proven CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio, Across Language Server). We save your medical translations in translation memories, which are personalized to you, traceable, and securely hosted in-house.

When you submit a new assignment, our CAT tools can find repetitions, identical pairs of sentences, as well as similar language from your previous jobs. We can invoice this work at a discounted per word price. This will help reduce the costs of every new translation project that we complete for you. The larger your personal database, the greater your potential for price and time savings at mt-g. In addition, CAT tools can harness terminology lists to produce uniform translations.

Quality (using translation memories)

  • Adherence to customer translation memories
  • Creation of translation memories for clients and translators
  • Importing of glossaries and terminology databases
  • Calculation and document analysis (internal repetitions and fuzzy matches)
  • Document preparation for translation
  • Quality assurance (CAT QA checks, tag checks)
  • ...
