What are Matches? (Cat Grading)

Corresponding sentences in the text and the translation memory are referred to as matches.

Here is an example from a project for a translation from German into English.

In this example, we have a total of 1,939 words to translate in the document.

0-84% matches
Words/phrases for which there are either no entries in the TM or where existing entries in the TM show major deviations with the sentences in the document.

85-99% matches
Words/phrases for which there are similar entries in the TM (example: Only one word is different in a sentence).

Repetitions, 100% matches
Text-internal repetitions and words/phrases for which there is a 1:1 match in the TM but which may be in a different context and therefore need to be checked for accuracy by translators.
